June 26 Jakes promotionI finally got my photos back from Jakes promotin ceremony. He earned the rank of 1st Lieutenant! He also recieved the Air Force Achievement Medal for Heroism! I am so proud of him. He has worked so hard for this country and family. I was such an honor to pin those ranks on. He didn't want to do a public ceremony but I told him that he had to for me! I think after I all I put up with I at least get to pin those ranks on. So he agreed and with the help of his wonderful buddies he had a fantastic ceremony. The room was packed! It was so great! I wanted to type up the reason why Jake received his medal. I am just so proud of him!
"Second Lieutenant Jacob English distinguished himself by outstanding achievement while assigned to teh 518th Combat Sustainment Squadron, 84th Combat Sustainment Wing, Hill Air Force Base, Utah. While leading a troop of Boy Scouts on a camping trip to Camp Buffalo Bill near Cody, Wyoming, Lieutenant English was alerted to the prowling sounds of a large grizzly bear. He retrieved a can of bear spray from his tent and positioned himself in between the bear and the children. He and other leaders cautiously moved forward with the bear spray while making loud noises to care the bear off. THe bear began to retreat from the camp and Lieutenant English continued his his efforts until the bear was no longer visable. The camp staff porceeded to track the bear in a vehicle until it was no longer a threat to the camp. Lieutenant English selflessly put himself in harm's way by distracting the dangerouse bear fromteh Boy Scout campsite. He took all precautions necessary to successfully run the bear out of the campsite directly saving over 25 children froma potential attack and possiable the additional 250 children in teh surrounding area. This heroic act of Lieutenant English reflects great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force. "
I am so button popping proud of him!! I love you Jake!
